Months passed, and the quiet rhythm of our new life settled into a beautiful routine.
I received a formal letter in the mail from the state prosecutor's office regarding Mark’s embezzlement case.
Mark had been sentenced to federal prison, and Sarah had been forced to declare total bankruptcy.
Sarah was currently working double shifts at a cheap laundromat just to afford a tiny studio apartment.
