Chapter 1 - The Billionaire's Wrath

The silence in the grand banquet hall was absolutely deafening.
Every single eye in the room was fixed on the elderly billionaire, Arthur Sterling.
Arthur was a man who had built an empire from nothing, known for his ruthless business tactics and his impenetrable composure.
But right now, his hands were violently shaking as he stared at the broken silver pendant on the marble floor.
Eleanor, the wealthy socialite who had just ripped the necklace from the little girl's neck, let out a nervous, high-pitched laugh.
"Arthur, darling, please don't let this street urchin ruin your charity gala," she stammered, trying to regain her usual arrogant posture.
Arthur did not even look at her.
He slowly lowered his fragile frame to his knees, ignoring the gasps of the elite guests watching him.
His trembling fingers reached out and gently picked up the broken pieces of the silver chain.
He turned the pendant over in his palm, his thumb tracing a tiny, hidden engraving on the back.
It was a small, delicate rose, intertwined with the letter 'S'.
Tears immediately welled up in the old man's fierce blue eyes, spilling over his wrinkled cheeks.
"Where did you get this?" Arthur whispered, his voice cracking with an emotion no one had ever heard from him before.
The little girl, still crying softly, wiped her dirty cheeks with the back of her worn sleeve.
"I told her," the girl sniffled, pointing a tiny finger at Eleanor.
"My mommy gave it to me right before she went to sleep forever."
Arthur's heart stopped beating in his chest.
He looked closely at the little girl's face for the very first time.
Beneath the dirt and the tears, he saw familiar emerald green eyes and a stubborn curve of the jaw.
It was the exact same face he had seen every single night in his dreams for the last twenty-five years.
"What was your mommy's name, sweet child?" Arthur asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
The little girl swallowed hard and stood up a little taller.
"Her name was Sarah," the girl answered bravely.
A collective gasp echoed through the massive ballroom.
Everyone in high society knew the tragic story of Arthur Sterling's only daughter, Sarah, who had vanished without a trace decades ago.
Eleanor's face drained of all color, turning as white as a ghost.
Arthur slowly stood back up, clutching the broken necklace tightly against his chest.
When he finally turned his gaze toward Eleanor, the sorrow in his eyes had been completely replaced by a blazing, terrifying fury.
"You dare to lay your hands on my own flesh and blood?" Arthur roared, his voice shaking the crystal chandeliers above.
Eleanor took a terrified step backward, her expensive designer heels slipping on the polished floor.
"Arthur, I didn't know, I swear I thought it was just cheap trash!" she pleaded, raising her hands in defense.
"The only trash in this room is you, Eleanor," Arthur snarled, stepping closer to her.
"Security, get this pathetic excuse for a woman out of my sight before I do something I will truly regret."
Four massive security guards immediately stepped out of the shadows and grabbed Eleanor by her arms.
She screamed and kicked, humiliating herself in front of the city's most powerful people as she was dragged out the doors.
Arthur took a deep breath, trying to steady his racing heart.
He turned back to the little girl and slowly dropped to one knee again.
"What is your name, my brave little one?" he asked gently.
"I'm Lily," she whispered, looking at him with wide, innocent eyes.

Arthur smiled through his tears and held out his hand.
"Well, Lily, my name is Arthur, and I believe I am your grandfather."
