The incredibly cold wind howled violently as Emma felt her fragile body plunge into the terrifying, bottomless abyss below the towering skyscraper.
She squeezed her eyes tightly shut, completely bracing herself for the sudden, fatal impact with the unforgiving concrete pavement.

She carefully reached into her deep coat pocket and miraculously pulled out her smartphone, which was incredibly still fully intact.
Before Margaret had handed her the dirty bribe, Emma had discreetly pressed the audio record button to capture the horrible conversation for Alex.
She played the digital file back quietly, her heart pounding as she heard Margaret explicitly threaten her life in crystal clear high-definition audio.
Emma knew right then that returning to Alex immediately would be a highly dangerous, incredibly foolish, and terribly fatal mistake.
