Chapter 9 - The Downfall

“Pack your things,” Harrison said to Vivienne.
His voice was so hollow and devoid of emotion that it was chilling.
Vivienne burst into genuine, ugly tears.
“Harrison, please!” she begged, dropping to her knees on the hardwood floor.
“I was just stressed about the gala!”
“I wanted everything to be perfect for you!”
“You wanted to discipline my mute daughter by burning her flesh,” Harrison corrected, his voice finally rising to a roar.
“You are a monster.”
“I love you!” she screamed, reaching for his pant leg.
Harrison violently kicked his leg away, disgusted by her touch.
“You love my bank accounts, Vivienne,” he spat.
“The wedding is off.”
“The foundation dinner is canceled.”
“And if you ever come within fifty miles of my daughter again, I will destroy you.”
Vivienne’s sorrow instantly morphed back into pure rage.
She stood up, her perfectly styled hair falling into her face like a madwoman.
“You can’t do this to me!” she screeched.
“I signed a prenup! I get two million just for the engagement!”
