Chapter 4 - The Confrontation

The heavy door hissed open.

Harrison stood in the doorway, looking like a thundercloud in a custom Italian suit.

Behind him stood Reynolds and two other massive security guards.

Vivienne was leaning against the wall, clutching a bloody towel to her elbow.

Her makeup was perfectly smudged to make her look like a fragile victim.

“Get her away from my daughter,” Harrison ordered.

The guards stepped forward and roughly grabbed my arms.

“No!” I screamed, struggling against their grip.

“Look at her hair, Harrison!”

“Look at what she did to Maya!”

Harrison stepped into the room and knelt in front of his daughter.

He reached out to touch her, but Maya flinched away violently.

Harrison’s face fell.

He noticed the jagged, burnt patch of hair resting against her neck.

His jaw tightened as the harsh chemical smell finally hit his nose.

“What happened here?” Harrison demanded, his eyes narrowing.

Vivienne gasped and covered her mouth.

“Clara did it!” Vivienne cried out, pointing a manicured finger at me.

“She tried to burn her, and when I tried to stop her, she attacked me!”

I couldn't believe the audacity of her lie.
