Chapter 20 - The VowsI walked down the aisle, my eyes locked on the man who had turned my world upside down.

Silas stood off to the side, dabbing his eyes with a handkerchief when he thought no one was looking.

I reached the altar, and Julian immediately took both of my hands in his.

“You are late,” he murmured, a playful smirk on his lips.

“I was busy apologizing to the doorframes,” I whispered back, making him chuckle.

The priest spoke, but the words faded into the background.

All I could hear was the steady, calm beating of Julian’s heart as he slipped a massive diamond ring onto my finger.

“With this ring, I vow to protect you, cherish you, and yield my empire to you,” he said firmly.

I placed a matching platinum band on his scarred finger.

“With this ring, I vow to love you, stand by you, and make my own espresso,” I promised.

He pulled me in, kissing me deeply as the small crowd of family and staff erupted into cheers.

I was no longer the invisible maid hiding in the kitchen.
