Chapter 13 - The Sniper in the DarkTotal darkness swallowed the room.

A split second later, the sharp crack of a sniper rifle echoed through the silence.

The man holding my arms dropped dead instantly, a clean hole through his chest.

Chaos erupted as Victor’s men started firing blindly into the shadows.

“Find him!” Victor screamed, backing away in sheer terror.

Red laser sights cut through the darkness like deadly spiderwebs.

One by one, the armed guards dropped to the concrete floor.

He was hunting them.

A strong, familiar hand suddenly clamped over my mouth from behind.

I flinched, but a deep voice whispered in my ear.

“I told you not to let go of me.”

Julian.

He pulled me into the shadows behind a stack of shipping crates.

He was covered in dirt and blood, looking like a demon summoned straight from hell.

“You are alive,” I sobbed quietly, clinging to his tactical vest.

“I told you I was going to protect you,” he grunted, checking his magazine.

“We have to move. Silas is outside with an extraction team.”

He grabbed my hand, pulling me through the maze of crates.

But Victor stepped out from an aisle, holding a submachine gun leveled right at us.
