His hands were demanding, mapping the curves of my body as if he had been starving for the touch.
I responded with equal desperation, my fingers tangling in his dark, perfectly styled hair.
“Maya,” he groaned against my mouth, his control snapping.
He pushed me down onto the thick rug, his heavy body pressing me into the floor.
I had never felt so overwhelmed, so completely consumed by another person.
But just as his hand slid under the hem of my shirt, a loud crash echoed outside.
Julian froze, instantly shifting from a passionate lover to a lethal predator.
He rolled off me, pulling his gun from the table in one fluid motion.
“Get in the panic room,” he ordered, his voice devoid of all warmth.
“Julian—”
“Move!” he roared, dragging me toward a hidden door behind a bookshelf.
He shoved me inside the dark, steel-lined box.
“Lock it from the inside and do not open it for anyone but me,” he commanded.
He slammed the door shut before I could even say his name.
