Chapter 20 - The Real Wedding

The doors to the chapel opened, and the soft, beautiful sound of acoustic guitars filled the air.
The room was filled with our true friends, our sanctuary staff, and the residents we had helped save.
There were no reporters, no billionaires, and no fake, toxic socialites.
I walked down the aisle with my father by my side, feeling completely radiant and entirely whole.
Julian stood at the altar, looking at me with so much love it practically knocked the breath out of my lungs.
When my father placed my hand in Julian’s, he gave the young doctor a firm, approving nod.
We said our vows clearly, confidently, and entirely without fear.
When the preacher finally pronounced us husband and wife, the entire room erupted into massive, joyful cheers.
We walked out of the chapel hand in hand, stepping into the bright, warm afternoon sun.
I looked back and saw my father smiling, standing tall and entirely free of his heavy burdens.
The ragged man who had begged for a single hug was gone forever.
He was replaced by a hero who had successfully guided his daughter out of the terrible darkness.
