Chapter 16 - The Land's Purpose

Six months passed, and the Sterling family was officially sentenced to life without parole.
With the criminal threat permanently erased, I finally drove out to the countryside to see my mother's land.
My father rode in the passenger seat, looking healthier and happier than he had in decades.
We pulled up to a massive, sprawling green valley surrounded by beautiful, majestic mountains.
It was absolutely breathtaking, completely untouched by corporate greed or city pollution.
“Your mother always wanted to build a sanctuary here,” my father whispered, gazing at the rolling hills.
“A place where people could heal and find peace.”
I looked at the massive plot of land, a brilliant, inspiring idea forming in my mind.
I didn't want to sell it to developers, and I didn't want to leave it empty.
I wanted to honor my mother's legacy and my father's incredible sacrifice.
I hired a team of architects and construction crews using the massive settlement money I won from the Sterling lawsuit.
We built a beautiful, state-of-the-art rehabilitation center for people struggling with homelessness and medical debt.
We named it the Miller Sanctuary.
It was a place where people who had fallen through the cracks could finally find safety, dignity, and a second chance.
