Chapter 12 - The Broadcast

Richard scoffed, looking at my phone with absolute disdain.
“Your phone has no service here, Sophie, Mark made sure of that,” he mocked confidently.
“You are completely correct,” I agreed, a dangerous smile spreading across my face.
“But I don't need a cellular signal to connect to a local WiFi network.”
I had noticed the security cameras outside the warehouse when I sneaked in.
I knew a massive corporation like Sterling Holdings would have a high-speed guest network.
I had guessed the incredibly arrogant password—'Sterling1'—and connected perfectly.
“I am currently broadcasting a live stream to every single guest sitting in that cathedral,” I announced.
“Including the mayor, the chief of police, and three local news anchors.”
Richard’s face drained of all color in a matter of seconds.
“You just confessed to extortion, fraud, and attempted murder on a live feed, Richard.”
“The entire city is watching you right now.”
One of the armed guards quickly pulled out his own phone to check social media.
“Boss, she isn't lying,” the guard panicked, showing Richard the viral video feed.
“The stream has over fifty thousand viewers already.”
The absolute terror on Richard’s face was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.
