Chapter 19 - The Morning Of

The morning of my second wedding felt entirely different from the first.

There was no anxiety, no suffocating pressure, and no overwhelming dread.

I stood in the bridal suite of the sanctuary's main chapel, looking at my reflection in the mirror.

I wasn't wearing a massive, restrictive ballgown covered in expensive jewels.

I wore a simple, elegant lace dress that felt light, comfortable, and entirely me.

There was a soft knock on the wooden door.

My father walked in, wearing a sharp, tailored tuxedo and a brilliant, proud smile.

He looked incredibly handsome, a far cry from the ragged, desperate man who had crashed my life three years ago.

He walked over and gently pinned a small, delicate silver locket to my bouquet.

It was the exact same locket I had broken when I was a child.

He had taken it to a jeweler and completely restored it, replacing the hidden tracker with a beautiful picture of my mother.

“She would be so incredibly proud of the woman you have become, Sophie,” he whispered, his eyes shining with happy tears.

I hugged him tightly, careful not to ruin my makeup, but completely uncaring if I did.

“I love you so much, Dad,” I replied.

“Are you ready to give me away?”

May you like

He chuckled, offering me his strong, steady arm.

“I am never giving you away again, sweetheart, but I will gladly walk you down the aisle.”
