Chapter 16 - The New Will

Three long, incredibly exhausting weeks later, I sat comfortably in a bright, beautiful private suite at the best hospital in the city.

Beatrice was sitting up in a plush leather chair, looking incredibly healthy, completely vibrant, and totally unrecognizable from the frail woman I first found.

She was elegantly dressed in a soft, expensive silk robe, drinking a warm cup of herbal tea while carefully reviewing massive legal documents.

Her brilliant, sharp mind was completely restored to its former glory, completely free from the toxic fog of Eleanor's dangerous drugs.

“The federal prosecutors have officially frozen every single illegal bank account Julian and Eleanor tried to aggressively drain,” Beatrice announced happily.

“They are both being heavily held without bail until the massive federal trial completely begins next month,” I added with a warm smile.

Beatrice carefully set her tea cup down and handed me a thick, beautifully bound legal document with her incredibly steady signature on it.

“I had my new, highly vetted lawyers officially draft a completely new, ironclad will this morning,” she explained softly.

I quickly glanced down at the complicated legal text, my eyes completely widening in absolute, genuine shock.

She had systematically cut Julian and Eleanor completely out of her massive, multi-million dollar estate with incredibly ruthless precision.

Instead, she had generously left a massive portion of her incredible fortune to various charities specializing in severe elder abuse prevention.

And the entire remaining, massive balance of her immense real estate empire was legally, irrevocably left directly to me.

“Beatrice, I absolutely cannot accept this massive amount of money, it is far too much for me,” I stammered, completely overwhelmed.

She reached out and gently covered my trembling hand with hers, her faded eyes shining with immense, unconditional love.

“You are the absolute only real family I have left in this miserable world, Clara, because you risked your life to save mine.”

“You incredibly proved your absolute loyalty and fierce bravery when you aggressively stood up to that corrupt lawyer on the pier.”

“I want you to completely take this massive fortune and build a beautiful, incredible life entirely free from those toxic monsters.”

I wiped a happy tear from my cheek, gently hugging the incredible, resilient woman who had drastically changed my entire destiny.

I had originally walked into that suffocating back room expecting absolute tragedy, but I had miraculously found an incredible, lifelong bond instead.
