Chapter 10 - The Calm Before the Storm

The deafening wail of countless police sirens violently shattered the quiet suburban night as dozens of cruisers desperately flooded the streets.
Detective Harris aggressively shoved Julian and Eleanor into separate, heavily armored police vehicles, strictly ignoring their pathetic, desperate screams for legal representation.
“You are both officially under arrest for massive conspiracy to commit murder, and you will rot in federal prison!” Harris yelled at them.
I stood on the cold concrete driveway, violently wrapping my arms around my shivering body as the freezing night wind violently whipped my hair.
My perfect, meticulously calculated plan had completely derailed in a matter of seconds, transforming a clean arrest into a terrifying hostage situation.
“Clara, we need you to aggressively track the lawyer’s cell phone using the corporate account you share with Julian,” Harris urgently instructed me.
I sprinted back into the chaotic house, frantically grabbing Julian’s abandoned laptop from his office and aggressively typing in his master passwords.
My fingers violently trembled over the keyboard as I rapidly accessed the corporate security network, desperately searching for the lawyer's digital footprint.
“He turned off his primary cell phone, but his luxury car has an active, built-in GPS tracking system that he cannot disable,” I told the detective.
A bright red dot suddenly blinked on the digital map, aggressively moving toward the massive, abandoned shipping docks on the edge of the city.
“He is heading straight for the industrial pier, he is actually going to throw her into the freezing water!” I screamed in absolute terror.
Harris aggressively grabbed his heavy tactical vest, violently racking the slide of his weapon as he sprinted toward his unmarked police cruiser.
“Get in the car right now, Clara, we need you to formally identify the exact shipping container he rents for his illegal smuggling!” he ordered.
I dove into the passenger seat, aggressively slamming the heavy door shut as Harris violently slammed his foot onto the gas pedal.
The powerful engine roared deafeningly as we violently swerved through the dark city streets, aggressively running multiple red lights at breakneck speeds.
I stared intensely at the glowing digital map on the laptop, frantically praying that Beatrice’s fragile heart could survive this terrifying, violent ordeal.
She had survived years of cruel poisoning, massive financial theft, and absolute isolation; she absolutely could not die at the hands of a greedy lawyer.
The massive, rusted gates of the abandoned industrial docks aggressively loomed in the distance, shrouded in thick, terrifying fog.
Harris violently slammed the brakes, aggressively sliding the heavy cruiser to a halt just yards away from a sleek, black Mercedes parked near the water.

The driver’s side door was completely wide open, and the incredibly dark, freezing water violently crashed against the concrete pier below.
We aggressively drew our flashlights, completely terrified of what we were about to find in the violent, suffocating darkness of the docks.
