Chapter 8 - The Great Escape

The heavy wooden door burst open as hospital security unlocked it from the outside.
Behind them stood three massive men wearing sharp black suits, looking like professional mercenaries.
Julian Vance walked in right behind them, completely ignoring Sylvia’s outraged gasps.
“Elena, it is time to go,” Julian announced smoothly, holding up a stack of official court orders.
Sylvia started screaming at the top of her lungs, demanding that security arrest Julian.
“This man is kidnapping a mentally unstable patient!” she shrieked hysterically.
Julian calmly handed a restraining order directly to the hospital administrator who had run into the room.
“My client is completely lucid, and she is a victim of attempted homicide,” Julian declared loudly.
“I have an emergency protective order signed by a federal judge, effective immediately.”
Marcus sprinted down the hallway, bursting into the room completely out of breath.
“You can't take my wife, she belongs to me!” Marcus yelled, trying to push past the bodyguards.
One of Julian’s men effortlessly shoved Marcus backward, sending him crashing into the wall.
Sarah, the brave nurse, quickly and efficiently unhooked me from the hospital monitors.
She helped me into a wheelchair, wrapping a warm blanket tightly around my shoulders.
“You are going to be okay,” Sarah whispered, giving my hand a reassuring squeeze.
Julian’s team formed a protective wall around me as they wheeled me down the corridor.
Marcus and Sylvia screamed threats and curses from behind the security line.
