Chapter 12 - The Trial Begins

Six months passed, and I was now heavily pregnant and glowing with a newfound strength.

The criminal trial was the media event of the decade, broadcasted live on every major network.

I walked into the courtroom surrounded by Julian’s security detail, my head held high.

Marcus and Sylvia sat at the defense table, wearing bright orange jumpsuits instead of designer clothes.

They looked gaunt, exhausted, and utterly defeated by the harsh reality of prison life.

Sylvia glared at me with pure hatred, but I simply stared back with calm, unwavering confidence.

The prosecution presented a totally flawless and devastating case against them.

They showed the horrifying ultrasound images of the baby I had tragically lost.

The entire jury gasped, and several members actually broke down in tears.

Sylvia’s high-priced defense attorney tried to spin the narrative, claiming the audio recording was deep-faked.

He tried to paint me as a hysterical, hormonal woman looking for a quick divorce settlement.

But his arguments completely fell flat against the mountain of irrefutable evidence.

When it was my turn to take the stand, I did not cry or falter.

I recounted every horrific detail of the assault with absolute precision and devastating clarity.

I looked directly at the jury and made sure they felt every ounce of a mother's devastating heartbreak.

When I stepped down from the witness box, I knew we had already won.

But Julian had one final, fatal trick up his tailored sleeve.
