Chapter 10 - The Media Leak

Exactly one week later, the biggest news network in the country dropped a bombshell investigative report.

During prime time television, the anchor played the pristine audio recording of Sylvia’s vile confession.

Her cruel, calculated voice echoed through millions of living rooms across the nation.

The internet instantly exploded into an absolute frenzy of outrage and disgust.

The hashtags demanding justice for me and my babies trended globally within an hour.

Julian also leaked the financial documents proving Marcus’s company was entirely bankrupt.

The news painted the perfect picture of a desperate, broke family trying to murder a pregnant woman for her inheritance.

I watched the news coverage from the safety of my heavily guarded suite.

Investors immediately pulled out of Marcus’s startup, causing his company to collapse overnight.

Sylvia was entirely expelled from every single high-society charity board and elite country club.

Their wealthy friends publicly distanced themselves, terrified of being associated with attempted murderers.

Julian’s phone rang non-stop as prominent prosecutors fought over who would get to handle the high-profile criminal case.

“They are completely cornered,” Julian told me over a celebratory cup of herbal tea.

“The District Attorney just signed the official arrest warrants for both of them.”

I placed a gentle hand over my growing stomach, feeling a tiny kick from within.

“When do they make the arrest?” I asked, a sense of cold satisfaction washing over me.

“First thing tomorrow morning,” Julian replied, packing his briefcase.
