Chapter 8 - The Media Spin

Desperate times called for desperate measures.
Beatrice knew she couldn't win in a courtroom against Arthur’s elite lawyers.
So, she decided to take the battle to the court of public opinion.
She hired a sleazy tabloid journalist to write a hit piece on Clara.
The headline read: “Greedy Teacher Brainwashes Elderly Billionaire for Fortune.”
The article painted Clara as a master manipulator who isolated Arthur from his loving family.
When Clara saw the magazine at the grocery store checkout, her heart sank.
She bought a copy and read it in her car, tears of frustration blurring her vision.
They were dragging her dead husband’s name into the mud, calling their marriage a sham.
When she arrived at Arthur’s office, he was already watching the news coverage.
“Do not let them break your spirit, Clara,” Arthur said sternly.
“They want you to panic and surrender the trust.”
“How do we fight this?” Clara asked, wiping her eyes.
“We don’t fight the mud with more mud,” Arthur smiled thinly.
“We fight it with blinding, undeniable light.”
He pressed a button on his intercom.
