Chapter 7 - The Eviction Notice

Beatrice was hosting a lavish afternoon tea party at the family estate when the gate buzzer rang.
She expected her wealthy friends, but instead, a fleet of black SUVs rolled up the driveway.
Jonathan Vance stepped out, followed by two uniformed security guards.
Beatrice marched down the steps, her face flushing with anger.
“What is the meaning of this intrusion?” she demanded loudly.
Jonathan calmly handed her a crisp, white envelope.
“This is a thirty-day notice of eviction, ma'am.”
“The title of this property has been officially transferred to Clara Miller.”
The socialites on the patio gasped, dropping their expensive porcelain cups.
“You can’t do this!” Beatrice screamed, tearing the paper in half.
“This is my family home, she has no right to kick us out!”
“Actually, she has every legal right,” Jonathan replied smoothly.
“Furthermore, all company credit cards issued to you and Richard have been deactivated.”
Beatrice pulled out her phone and frantically checked her banking app.
The color drained from her face as she saw her available balance read zero.
“You are entirely cut off from the Sterling fortune, effective immediately,” Jonathan stated.
