Chapter 9 - Uninvited Guest

The stairwell door opened into a plush, carpeted hallway adorned with modern art.

Marcus crept down the hall, his hand resting securely on his holstered weapon.

He heard the faint sound of classical music drifting from Arthur's penthouse suite.

There were two armed private security guards flanking the heavy oak door.

Marcus didn't hesitate or try to negotiate with the hired muscle.

He stepped out of the shadows, double-tapping the first guard with a stun gun.

As the man convulsed and dropped, the second guard reached for his pistol.

Marcus closed the distance in a heartbeat, delivering a brutal knee to the man's chest.

He disarmed the gasping guard and slammed the butt of his gun against his temple.

Both men were unconscious on the floor in under ten seconds.

Marcus dragged them out of sight and approached the massive oak door.

He used a breaching explosive charge, barely larger than a coin, on the locking mechanism.

The muffled pop destroyed the lock, and Marcus kicked the door wide open.
