Chapter 18 - Mercy and Justice
For a long moment, Marcus's finger tightened on the trigger.
He wanted nothing more than to end the monster who had tortured his son.
But as he looked at Briggs groveling in the bloody water, he remembered his promise.
He had told Leo he was going to fix the system, not become part of its corruption.
Marcus slowly lowered his weapon, stepping back in disgust.
"You aren't worth the bullet, Richard," Marcus spat, holstering his gun.
Suddenly, the tunnel was flooded with blinding tactical lights.
A squad of FBI agents stormed in, their assault rifles trained on both men.
"Drop your weapons and put your hands on your heads!" the lead agent commanded.
Marcus immediately complied, interlacing his fingers and dropping to his knees.
He watched with immense satisfaction as the agents violently cuffed Captain Briggs.

The paramedics rushed in right behind them to treat the gunshot wounds.
The nightmare was finally coming to an end.
