Chapter 2 - The Drone's Secret

The video footage started with a wide aerial shot of the city's industrial district.
Leo had been flying the drone high above the abandoned rail yards.
Suddenly, the camera zoomed in on a black SUV parked behind a rusted warehouse.
Two men stepped out, dragging a bound and gagged informant Marcus recognized instantly.
It was Tommy Vance, a low-level dealer who had been working with Marcus's precinct.
The second man to step out of the SUV was Captain Richard Briggs, Marcus’s commanding officer.
Briggs calmly drew his service weapon and shot the informant twice in the chest.
The drone's microphone hadn't picked up the sound, but the muzzle flash was unmistakable.
Marcus paused the video, staring at the high-definition image of his boss's face.
Briggs was the one who controlled the precinct's GPS grid.
He was the only one who knew Marcus was driving an unmarked car today.
The asthma attack, the zip-ties, the landlord—it was all a coordinated distraction.
Briggs wanted Marcus panicked and focused on his son while a clean-up crew raided the apartment.

Marcus drew his Glock and racked the slide.
They had to leave right now.
