Chapter 8 - The Choke Point"Forty men is a small army," Marcus stated, pacing the small room.

"We have three guns and a wounded man."

"We don't need forty guns," Elena replied, moving toward the wall of weapons.

"We need a choke point."

She grabbed a sleek, matte-black shotgun from the rack, checking the pump action with a satisfying click.

She loaded it with specialized armor-piercing slugs, her hands moving with mechanical precision.

"They know we are in the safe room," Elena explained, looking at the blueprints on the wall.

"They will bring breaching charges to blow this door."

"When they stack up in the narrow hallway outside, they will be clustered together."

Cassian walked over to the weapon rack, selecting a compact submachine gun and extra magazines.

"You want to ambush them while they are setting the charges?" he asked.

"Exactly," she confirmed.

"There is an old maintenance hatch beneath this floor grating."

"It leads directly into the ceiling crawlspace above the hallway."

Cassian looked at her, a dark smile playing on his lips.

"You mapped my secret passages, too?" he asked.

"A good housekeeper always checks for dust in the vents," she replied dryly.
