Chapter 11 - The Phantom of BlackwoodCassian refused to leave her.

"I am not leaving you to fight my war," he argued, his stubborn pride flaring.

"This is not about pride, Mr. Thorne," Elena snapped.

"If you die, the syndicate falls, and all of this was for nothing."

"Get to the garage and wait for my signal."

Before he could argue further, she vanished into the shadows of the servant corridors.

Cassian cursed under his breath, forcing himself to follow Marcus toward the garage.

Inside the security booth near the garage, Cassian found a working monitor.

He watched the grainy, black-and-white feed of the main foyer.

He saw her.

Elena stepped out from behind a marble pillar, perfectly silent.

Three of Viktor’s elite hunters were moving through the room, sweeping the area with laser sights.

Cassian held his breath, watching her move like a ghost behind them.

She drew a combat knife from the boot of a dead guard she had scavenged earlier.

In one fluid motion, she clamped a hand over the first man's mouth and drove the blade into his kidney.

She lowered him silently to the floor.

The other two men didn't even notice.

Cassian watched in absolute awe as his quiet, unassuming housekeeper dismantled a hit squad in under sixty seconds.

"She is magnificent," Cassian whispered to the screen.
