Chapter 7 - The Facebook Smear Campaign

By the time I returned home, Beatrice had launched her digital counter-attack.
My phone was blowing up with notifications from horrified friends and confused relatives.
Beatrice had posted a massive, crying paragraph on her public Facebook page.
She claimed I had suffered a violent postpartum psychotic break and thrown her out into the cold night.
She painted herself as a saintly grandmother who was just trying to help a mentally unstable daughter-in-law.
She even tagged my professional business page, trying to ruin my reputation with my corporate clients.
“She is completely unhinged and a danger to my precious grandson,” her post read in bold letters.
I sat at my kitchen island, reading the hundreds of sympathetic comments from her country club friends.
They were calling me a monster, a gold-digger, and an unfit mother.
I didn't panic, and I didn't write an emotional, defensive response.
I simply pulled up the digital footage from the hidden nanny camera in my living room.
The camera had perfectly captured the entire incident from the day before.
It caught Beatrice's cruel, venomous demand for me to leave the photo, and Liam's pathetic silence.
It captured my calm response and their dramatic, entitled exit.
I downloaded the crystal-clear video file and sent it directly to Sarah.
“Draft a cease and desist letter for defamation,” I texted my lawyer.
“And include a flash drive with this video for Beatrice to watch.”
I knew Beatrice cared about her public image more than she cared about oxygen.
When she realized I had video proof of her horrific behavior, she was going to completely panic.

I was done playing the role of the quiet, obedient victim.
It was time to go on the absolute offensive.
