Chapter 20 - The Final Chapter

Later that quiet night, after all the happy guests had finally gone home, the house was peaceful again.

I carried a freshly bathed, deeply sleeping Leo up the stairs to his beautiful, cozy nursery.

I laid him gently in his crib, pulling the soft, warm blanket tightly over his tiny shoulders.

I stood by the window, looking out over my sprawling, safe, perfectly protected property.

I thought back to that terrible, defining day when Beatrice tried to kick me out of my own family picture.

She had genuinely believed I was weak, submissive, and entirely easy to completely break.

She had absolutely no idea that her cruel venom would be the exact catalyst for my ultimate rise to power.

I walked quietly down the hall and stopped right in front of the massive family portrait above the fireplace.

Just me and my son, smiling brightly, completely fearless and entirely free.

I traced my fingers lightly over the heavy, expensive wooden frame.

I had completely rewritten the terrifying story they tried to force upon me.

I was the undeniable author of my own beautiful destiny now.

And my story was finally, truly perfect.
