Chapter 20 - The Legacy

Exactly five years later, I stood on the grand balcony of my private penthouse in New York City, a crystal glass of champagne in my hand.
Directly below me, the bustling city lights glittered beautifully like diamonds scattered on black velvet.
A small, energetic hand playfully tugged at the hem of my elegant, custom-made evening gown.
“Mommy, look at all the fast cars!” Victoria squealed joyfully, pointing down at the tiny, moving lights of the traffic.
I smiled warmly, gracefully scooping my beautiful, intelligent daughter into my arms.
Gabriel stepped out onto the breezy balcony, looking incredibly handsome in his tailored black tuxedo.
“The wealthy guests have finally arrived for the charity gala, Sarah,” he informed me with a warm, genuine smile.
I looked deeply at Gabriel, the brave man who had literally saved my life and stood loyally by my side through every single battle.
“Tell them we will be right down to join them,” I replied confidently.
I took one last, victorious look at the massive city that had once been the site of my greatest humiliation.
