Chapter 15 - The Breaking Point

Richard completely snapped under the crushing weight of his monumental failure.

With absolutely nothing left to lose, he let out an animalistic roar and pulled a concealed, unregistered firearm from his tailored jacket.

The wealthy board members screamed in terror and dove frantically under the heavy table.

He pointed the shaking gun directly at my face, his eyes completely unhinged and wild.

“If I am going to federal prison, I am taking you straight to hell with me!” he screamed, his finger twitching on the trigger.

I did not flinch, completely refusing to give him the satisfaction of my fear.

I stared straight down the dark barrel of the gun, holding his manic gaze with absolute, icy defiance.

“You are a pathetic coward, Richard,” I said, my voice eerily calm and steady.

“You always have been, and you always will be.”

Before he could pull the trigger, a loud shot rang out, violently shattering the massive glass window behind him.

A highly trained sniper from a neighboring roof, positioned flawlessly by Gabriel, had shot the gun right out of Richard’s trembling hand.
