Chapter 17 - Turning the Tide

I laced my fingers behind my head. "I didn't kill Clara, Miller. Sarah and Greg did. They embezzled seven million from Clara's company. Sarah bought the poison on the dark web. Eleanor here orchestrated the hit on me tonight."

"Lies!" Eleanor shrieked. "Check my pocket," I told Miller calmly. "Left jacket pocket. There's an encrypted flash drive. It has all of Clara's financial records, the wire transfers to Sarah's offshore accounts, and the dark web receipts I pulled from Sarah's laptop an hour ago."

Miller motioned for a cop to approach me. The officer patted me down and pulled out the drive.

"And if you want a confession," I added, "send a squad car to Greg and Sarah's house. Greg is zip-tied to a radiator. He was very chatty."

Miller looked down at Eleanor, whose aristocratic facade was finally crumbling into raw panic. "Read her her rights," Miller ordered the officers.
