Chapter 8 - The Empire Crumbles

Back at the grand Vance estate, Eleanor was throwing a massive temper tantrum in her living room.

She screamed at her maids as her platinum credit cards were repeatedly declined by the bank over the phone.

"Do you know who I am? Unfreeze my accounts right this instant!" Eleanor yelled into the receiver.

The bank manager politely informed her that her son had revoked all her financial privileges.

Just then, her front doors burst open, and a swarm of process servers and corporate lawyers marched into her foyer.

"Eleanor Vance, you are being served with a lawsuit for grand theft, extortion, and corporate fraud," the lead lawyer announced.

Eleanor dropped her phone, her perfectly manicured hands shaking in pure terror.

"You can't do this to me, I am the matriarch of this family!" she shrieked.

"You aren't family anymore," a cold voice echoed from the doorway.
