Chapter 5 - Escape from the Nightmare

Elena slowly opened her eyes, gasping when she saw Julian's face hovering above hers in the dim moonlight.
"Am I dreaming?" she whispered, her voice incredibly weak and raspy.
"No, my love, I'm right here, and I'm never letting you go again," Julian sobbed, wrapping his arms around her fragile body.
Elena flinched, trying to push him away out of pure fear.
"You have to leave, Julian, your mother... she will hurt Lily," Elena panicked, coughing heavily into her hands.
"My mother will never touch either of you again, I swear it on my life," Julian promised fiercely.
He realized Elena was burning up with a dangerous fever.
Without wasting another second, Julian lifted his wife into his arms, carrying her like a fragile porcelain doll.

"Thomas! Get the nearest hospital on the phone, now!" Julian shouted as he ran down the stairs.
Tonight, the nightmare was finally coming to an end.
