Chapter 8 - The Million-Dollar Defamation

Chloe decided to take matters into her own hands to save the family image.

She recorded a tearful video and posted it on her public Facebook and TikTok.

"My rich sister-in-law just abandoned my brother," Chloe cried to the camera.

"She used her money to control us and then threw us away like trash."

The video started gaining traction within a few hours.

People in the comments were sympathizing with the "poor, heartbroken" family.

When Elena’s PR team caught wind of it, they immediately alerted Richard.

Richard did not play nice when it came to his family's reputation.

Within an hour, Chloe received an email from Richard's massive legal team.

It was a cease and desist order, threatening a million-dollar defamation lawsuit.

Attached to the email was an audio recording.

It was the voicemail Marcus had left Elena, screaming and admitting he slapped her.

The email contained a simple, terrifying warning.

"Take down the video, or the audio goes to the police and the press."

Chloe turned pale, her hands shaking so hard she dropped her phone.

She frantically deleted the video, deleted her accounts, and shut her laptop.
