Chapter 4 - The Ironclad Threat

Marcus paced furiously on the sidewalk outside the luxury high-rise.
Two large security guards stood firmly blocking the glass entrance doors.
"You can't keep me out of my own home!" Marcus shouted at them.
"Ms. Hayes has revoked your access, sir," the guard replied with a blank expression.
Marcus pulled out his phone and called his mother.
"She kicked me out, Mom!" he complained, kicking a trash can.
"She left all my stuff in garbage bags with the concierge!"
Eleanor gasped loudly on the other end of the line.
"This is outrageous, I am calling her father right now!"
Eleanor quickly dialed Richard Hayes, fully expecting to manipulate the older man.
Richard answered the phone with a deadly calm voice.
"Richard, your daughter is having a hysterical breakdown," Eleanor started smoothly.
"She ruined our family breakfast and is acting completely unhinged."
"Eleanor," Richard interrupted, his voice dropping an octave.
"If your son ever comes within fifty feet of my daughter again, I will ruin you."
Eleanor stammered, completely caught off guard by his hostility.
"Excuse me? He is her husband!"
"Not for long," Richard snapped back sharply.
"My lawyers are filing for an annulment based on fraud and physical abuse."
"You and your broke family are cut off."

Richard hung up before Eleanor could even form a response.
She dropped her phone on the couch, suddenly realizing they had lost the golden goose.
