Chapter 3 - Return to Sender

Elena arrived at the downtown penthouse within twenty minutes.
The luxurious space was quiet, clean, and entirely hers.
She walked straight to the master bedroom and opened the massive walk-in closet.
Marcus's designer suits, bought with her hard-earned money, hung neatly in a row.
Elena marched into the kitchen and grabbed a box of heavy-duty black trash bags.
She returned to the closet and began throwing his clothes into the bags.
Silk ties, expensive shoes, and custom shirts were tossed in like garbage.
She didn't fold a single item.
She packed up his expensive cologne collection and his gaming consoles.
Within an hour, ten large black garbage bags sat by the front door.
Her phone rang, displaying a call from the building's front desk.
"Ms. Vance, your husband is downstairs demanding to be let up," the concierge said.
"My last name is still Hayes, actually," Elena corrected him calmly.
"And he is not allowed in this building ever again."
"Understood, Ms. Hayes, I will have security escort him off the premises."
Elena hung up the phone and smiled for the first time that day.
She dragged the heavy bags out into the hallway, right by the elevator.

She attached a sticky note to the top bag.
It simply read: "Return to sender."
