Chapter 16 - The Garage Confrontation

Down in the parking garage, Marcus had ducked behind a concrete pillar.
Arthur had bypassed the security gate using a stolen delivery truck.
He stepped out of the truck wearing body armor and holding a high-powered rifle.
"Come out, Marcus!" Arthur shouted, his voice echoing off the concrete walls.
"Let's settle this like men!"
Marcus peered around the pillar, his heart hammering in his chest.
He didn't have a weapon.
The two federal agents who were supposed to meet him were pinned down by suppressing fire.
"You're sick, Dad!" Marcus yelled back, his voice trembling with rage.
"Look at what you did to your own granddaughter!"
"She was a necessary sacrifice," Arthur replied coldly, raising his rifle.
Arthur began walking slowly toward Marcus's position, his eyes dead and unfeeling.
Marcus knew he couldn't just hide and wait for help.

He looked around desperately and spotted a heavy fire extinguisher mounted on the wall.
He grabbed it, pulled the pin, and waited for his father to step around the corner.
