Chapter 11 - The Cabin in the Woods

A breakthrough in the case came from an unexpected source.
Arthur’s former secretary called the police with a tip.
She remembered Arthur owned a small, unlisted hunting cabin near the Canadian border.
It wasn't in his name; it was registered under a shell company.
Detective Harris immediately dispatched a heavily armed tactical unit to the location.
The cabin was buried deep in a heavily wooded area, miles from any main road.
Helicopters circled above as the ground team moved in silently through the snow.
There was smoke rising from the stone chimney.
Someone was definitely inside.
Marcus and I waited at the precinct, staring at a map on the wall.
"He used to take me there when I was a kid," Marcus murmured.
"It's completely off the grid. No cell service, no internet."
It was the perfect place for a wealthy fugitive to hide.
I squeezed my eyes shut, praying that no one else would get hurt.
