Chapter 9 - Begging for Mercy

A week later, I was sitting by Mia's incubator when a commotion broke out in the hallway.
I looked through the window and saw Chloe arguing with the hospital security guards.
She looked a mess, her hair unwashed and her expensive clothes wrinkled.
"I need to see my sister! I'm pregnant, I'm family!" she screamed.
I calmly walked out of the room and stood in front of her.
"You aren't family," I said coldly. "Family doesn't laugh when you're drowning."
Chloe burst into tears, dropping to her knees on the hospital floor.
"Please, they took the house, they took everything! I have no money for my baby!"
I looked down at her without a single ounce of pity.
"Maybe this will finally teach you how to share," I echoed the exact words she had said to me at the pool.
The color drained from her face.

I signaled to the security guards.
"Remove her from the premises. If she comes back, call the police."
