Chapter 2 - The Facade Cracks

The next morning, Chloe posted another update on Facebook.
It was a picture of her drinking a glowing green smoothie, captioned, "Pregnancy glow and perfect vibes!"
I scoffed as I scrolled through my phone from my hospital bed.
Her perfect vibes were about to come crashing down.
At 9:00 AM, my mother walked into her elite country club, ready to order her usual champagne brunch.
When she handed the waiter her platinum credit card, it was immediately declined.
She threw a fit, screaming at the manager that she was a VIP and the machine was broken.
She tried three other cards, all linked to the fraudulent accounts I had exposed.
Every single one flashed the same red word: FROZEN.
Meanwhile, my father was sitting in his corner office, preparing to transfer more stolen pension funds.
He logged into his offshore portal, only to find the balances completely wiped and seized by federal authorities.
My phone buzzed with a text from Sarah.

"The dominoes are falling."
I locked my screen and closed my eyes, feeling the first wave of real peace I had felt in months.
