Chapter 8 - Turning on Each Other

Inside the interrogation rooms, the family loyalty completely vanished.

Sarah Jenkins later brought me the transcripts, and they were hilarious.

My mother immediately blamed my father for the financial ruin.

She claimed she had no idea the credit cards were in my name, blaming her husband for "handling the paperwork."

My father threw my mother under the bus for the physical assault.

He told the detectives that she was unhinged and had a history of violent outbursts.

He claimed he was in "shock" when I fell in the pool, which was why he didn't help me.

Chloe even called the police station, offering to testify against our parents if they gave her some of the seized money.

They were tearing each other apart like wild animals trapped in a cage.

It proved what I had known my entire life.

They didn't actually love each other.

They only loved the money, and without it, they were nothing.
