Chapter 13 - The Police Report

While Eleanor was being processed at the county jail for violating the restraining order, I walked into the downtown municipal police headquarters with my attorney to finalize the criminal charges from the night of the assault. I didn't just bring my statement; I brought an overwhelming mountain of irrefutable forensic evidence.

I laid out the high-resolution photos of my lacerated scalp taken at the base hospital just hours after the attack, along with the official medical report from the military physician documenting multiple dermal abrasions caused by forced, dry clipping against the grain of the skin. Then, my attorney handed over the thumb drive containing the audio recording from my home security cameras.

The detective clicked play. The crystal-clear audio filled the small interrogation room: "I fixed your priorities... If you want to stay married to my son, you’ll resign from the Air Force and learn what a proper wife does." Then, Marcus’s voice: "Hair grows back... But marriages don’t survive wives who refuse to submit."

The detective shook his head in disgust, closing his notebook. "Colonel Vance, this isn't just domestic altercation. This is premeditated assault with bodily injury, conspiracy to commit coercive control, and elder fraud. We have more than enough to issue felony arrest warrants for both of them."
