Chapter 12 - Eleanor's Desperation

Realizing that Marcus had failed to manipulate me at the mediation, Eleanor lost her remaining grip on reality. That afternoon, she attempted to bypass my protective order by calling the base operator and demanding to be put through to the Wing Commander’s office, claiming she was my "concerned mother-in-law" and that I was suffering from a severe mental breakdown and posing a threat to national security.
She didn't realize that every single incoming call to high-level command lines is filtered through advanced threat monitoring. The operators, already briefed on the security situation surrounding my command, immediately transferred her call to the base legal office while recording every word.

When phone harassment didn't work, she drove her rental car to the perimeter fence near the base public affairs office, trying to flag down local news reporters to pitch a fabricated story about a "tyrannical Colonel abusing her elderly mother-in-law."
Her smear campaign lasted exactly fifteen minutes. Base security officers, accompanied by local municipal police, intercepted her at the curb. Because she had violated the active 500-foot restraining order by approaching military property to harass me, she was handcuffed on the side of the road, her screaming protests echoing across the highway as she was stuffed into the back of a black-and-white patrol car.
