Chapter 9 - The Stress Takes a Toll

The relentless pressure of the impending trial began to severely affect my physical health.
I was unable to eat, and my blood pressure spiked to dangerously high levels.
Harrison hired a private nurse to stay at the penthouse and monitor my vitals around the clock.
I spent my days reviewing the encrypted files from Dr. Sterling, memorizing every single detail of Julian's fraud.
I watched video depositions of Julian from past lawsuits, studying his arrogant body language and aggressive tactics.
He was a master at gaslighting judges and manipulating juries with his charismatic tech-mogul persona.
But on Wednesday evening, just two days before the hearing, a sudden, sharp pain ripped through my abdomen.
I gasped, dropping my tablet onto the floor as a warm rush of fluid soaked through my clothes.
"Harrison!" I screamed, clutching my stomach in absolute agony.
He rushed into the living room, his face turning pale when he saw the puddle on the hardwood floor.
"My water just broke," I cried, panic entirely consuming my mind.
"It’s too early! I am only seven and a half months along!"
The private nurse immediately sprang into action, grabbing my medical bag and checking my pulse.
"Her stress levels have triggered premature labor," the nurse shouted to Harrison.
"We need to get her to a secure hospital immediately, right now!"
Harrison carried me out to the elevator, his strong arms holding me securely as another contraction hit.
The pain was blinding, a terrifying reminder that Julian's cruelty had real, physical consequences.
He hadn't just tried to erase my baby legally; he was actively endangering her actual life.
As we sped toward the hospital, I squeezed Harrison’s hand with crushing force.

"If something happens to her," I gasped between waves of intense pain.
"I will kill him myself."
