Chapter 20 - The Untouchable Queen

The Malibu estate was quiet, filled only with the soft sounds of classical music and the ocean breeze.

I stood on the very same limestone porch where I had once shivered in fear and absolute despair.

Now, I stood there wearing a beautiful silk gown, hosting a massive charity gala for my foundation.

The driveway was filled with luxury cars belonging to people who respected me for my strength, not my husband's wealth.

Harrison stood by my side, raising a glass of champagne to toast the millions of dollars we had raised that evening.

"You built an empire out of a nightmare, Evelyn," Harrison smiled, looking at me with genuine awe.

"I just took back what was rightfully mine," I replied, clinking my glass against his.

I looked at the glowing windows of my beautiful home, feeling an overwhelming sense of profound peace.

Julian Vance thought he could erase me like I never existed.

Instead, he gave me the exact push I needed to become an entirely untouchable queen.

I fought the hardest battle of my life when I was at my most vulnerable, and I won everything.

My daughter will grow up knowing that her mother did not bow down to a tyrant.

She will know that we are made of absolute steel.

I took a sip of my champagne, smiling as the cool California breeze brushed against my face.

This is the beautiful, fiercely protected life I fought for.

And no one will ever take it from me again.
