Chapter 17 - The Final Confrontation

I was subpoenaed to testify against Julian at his criminal trial six months later.

I walked into the federal courthouse, wearing a stunning white suit that radiated absolute power and control.

Julian sat at the defense table, wearing a cheap, ill-fitting suit, looking ten years older than his actual age.

His hair had thinned dramatically, and his arrogant posture was replaced by a pathetic, defeated slouch.

When it was my turn to take the stand, I looked him dead in the eye.

I answered the prosecutor's questions with calm, calculated precision.

I detailed exactly how he had manipulated the IVF process and how he had ruthlessly tried to erase my daughter.

I did not raise my voice, I did not cry, and I did not show an ounce of pity.

The jury listened to my testimony in absolute, stunned silence, deeply moved by the sheer cruelty of his actions.

During cross-examination, Julian's public defender barely asked any questions, knowing it was a completely lost cause.

Before stepping down, the judge allowed me to make a brief victim impact statement.

I looked directly at Julian, ensuring my words would haunt him for the rest of his miserable life.

"You thought discarding me would be easy because you thought I was weak," I stated clearly into the microphone.

"But you didn't realize that a mother fighting for her child is the most terrifying force in the universe."

Julian lowered his head, unable to maintain eye contact with the woman who had utterly destroyed him.

I walked out of the courtroom, feeling the heavy burden of the past completely lift from my shoulders.

I didn't care about the verdict anymore; I had already taken everything that mattered from him.
