Chapter 14 - The Implosion

"This is a complete outrage!" Julian yelled, his face turning a dangerous shade of crimson.

"She is lying! She bribed the doctor to frame me for her own disgusting infidelity!"

Judge Davis looked at Julian with an expression of sheer, unadulterated disgust.

"Mr. Vance, I highly suggest you sit down and remain silent before I hold you in contempt of court."

The judge turned her attention back to the massive pile of irrefutable evidence sitting on her desk.

"These wire transfers from your corporate shell accounts to Dr. Sterling are extremely damning."

"Your Honor, my client is the victim of a massive extortion plot," Julian's lawyer pleaded, though his voice shook.

"Save it, counselor," Judge Davis snapped, slamming the binder shut with a loud crack.

"I am ordering an immediate federal investigation into the laboratory that produced this fraudulent DNA test."

Julian slumped back into his leather chair, the reality of his total destruction finally setting in.

"Furthermore," the judge continued, her voice echoing with absolute finality.

"Because the plaintiff orchestrated a fraudulent scheme to trigger the prenuptial infidelity clause..."

She looked directly at me, a soft glimmer of respect shining in her strict eyes.

"...I am completely invalidating the prenuptial agreement in its entirety."

Julian gasped, clutching his chest as if he had just been physically shot.

Without the prenup, California community property laws applied to every single asset he owned.

He wasn't just losing the divorce; he was losing exactly half of his billion-dollar empire.

And worse, the news of his criminal perjury and bribery was going to be public record.

His highly anticipated corporate IPO was effectively dead on arrival.

I looked at the man who had thrown me out into the cold night just weeks ago.

He was completely broken, staring at the floor with hollow, defeated eyes.

I didn't feel sorry for him. I felt absolutely nothing.
