Chapter 5 - Cornering the Corrupt Doctor

We parked two blocks away from Dr. Sterling’s modern, glass-walled mansion.

Harrison had acquired the access code to the private gated community from one of his underground contacts.

We walked right up to the heavy oak front door and rang the bell, refusing to leave until he answered.

Dr. Sterling opened the door wearing an expensive silk bathrobe, looking incredibly hungover.

When he saw my face, all the color instantly drained from his wealthy, arrogant features.

He tried to slam the door, but Harrison wedged his heavy leather boot into the frame.

"I highly suggest you invite us in, Doctor," Harrison said in a deceptively polite tone.

"Unless you want to discuss medical fraud and federal bribery charges on your front porch."

Sterling swallowed hard and reluctantly stepped aside, allowing us into his sprawling living room.

"I have nothing to say to you, Mrs. Vance," Sterling stammered, avoiding my piercing gaze.

"Your husband requested a standard test, and the results were completely objective."

I stepped forward, closing the distance between us until he backed against the wall.

"You and I both know those results were completely fabricated, Arthur," I hissed.

"Julian wired three million dollars to your offshore account the day before he kicked me out."

Sterling flinched, visibly shocked that we had already traced the hidden payments.

"If Julian finds out I spoke to you, he will completely destroy my career," the doctor whimpered.

"If you don't speak to me, I will personally hand the wire transfer records to the FBI," Harrison countered smoothly.

"You can either lose your medical license, or you can go to federal prison for extortion and fraud."

The doctor collapsed into a leather armchair, burying his face in his trembling hands.

"He forced me to do it," Sterling confessed, his voice cracking with panic.

"Julian is sterile, Evelyn; he has been completely sterile for over five years."

The room went dead silent as the massive revelation hung in the air.
