Chapter 6 - The Devastating Truth

"Sterile?" I echoed, my mind spinning as I tried to process his words.
"That is impossible, Arthur. I am seven months pregnant with his child!"
Dr. Sterling looked up, his eyes filled with a mixture of guilt and absolute terror.
"You are pregnant, Evelyn, but Julian secretly used a donor sample during your IVF treatments."
My knees buckled, and Harrison had to grab my arm to keep me from collapsing onto the hardwood floor.
"He told you the samples were his," Sterling explained, speaking rapidly now.

By exposing his own sterility now, he could "prove" I had cheated on him.
He was using the very deception he orchestrated to legally discard me and keep his money untouched.
It was the most evil, calculated manipulation I had ever witnessed in my entire life.
"Do you have the original donor documents?" Harrison demanded, stepping in front of the cowering doctor.
"Julian paid me to destroy them, but I kept a digital backup on a secure encrypted server," Sterling admitted.
"I needed insurance in case he ever decided to throw me under the bus."

Julian Vance was going to burn.
