Chapter 11 - The Court-Ordered Test

Harrison blocked the door, refusing to let any court official near my newborn daughter.

"She was just born prematurely; you are not touching her without a judge's direct presence," Harrison barked.

The server slid a signed judicial order under the door, proving Julian had pulled massive legal strings overnight.

The order mandated a DNA swab within twenty-four hours of the birth to expedite the divorce proceedings.

Julian wanted to secure the fabricated "proof" of my infidelity just in time for his Friday morning hearing.

"He owns the private lab they are demanding we use," Harrison warned, reviewing the court document.

"If they take her swab, they will swap it with another sample to prove he isn't the father."

"Let them do it," I said suddenly, surprising both Harrison and the hospital staff.

"Evelyn, are you crazy? They will completely falsify the results," Harrison protested.

"I know they will," I smiled, holding little Maya tightly against my chest.

"But Dr. Sterling gave us the real, original DNA profile of the anonymous donor."

I looked at Harrison, my mind operating with the same ruthless efficiency Julian had taught me.

"If Julian's lab produces a fake result that doesn't match the real donor's DNA, we can prove he tampered with the test."

Harrison's eyes widened as he realized the sheer brilliance of the legal trap I had just laid.

By letting Julian cheat, we were going to catch him committing federal perjury and evidence tampering.

"You are a terrifying woman, Evelyn Vance," Harrison laughed, pulling out his phone to call his forensic experts.

We allowed the court-appointed nurse to enter the room and take a gentle swab from Maya's cheek.

As the nurse walked away with the sample, I felt a deep sense of absolute victory.

Julian thought he was wrapping a noose around my neck.

He didn't realize he had just stepped onto the trapdoor himself.
