Beatrice was hosting her weekly high-society garden party.
She was busy bragging to her wealthy friends about her son's latest success.
Suddenly, a process server walked right past the hired butler and stepped onto the patio.
"Beatrice Sterling?" the man asked loudly.
Beatrice scowled, offended by the intrusion.
The man handed her a thick stack of legal documents right in front of her prestigious guests.
"You are officially being served with a notice of foreclosure."
The entire garden fell completely silent.
Beatrice turned pale, her hands shaking as she read the top page.
The debt hadn't been collected by a bank.
It had been purchased by Vance Financial Group, Elena's primary corporation.
"This is a mistake!" Beatrice shrieked, dropping her crystal champagne flute.
