Chapter 5 - The Coffee Shop Trap

Elena looked immaculate in a tailored designer suit when Mateo walked into the café.

He immediately reached for her hand, but she pulled it away sharply.

"Elena, baby, I am so sorry about my mother," he lied smoothly.

Elena took a slow sip of her black coffee.

"I'm willing to overlook it, Mateo, but we need to talk about our finances."

Mateo's eyes lit up with greedy anticipation.

Elena slid a thick manila folder across the table.

"I am buying a massive commercial property, and I need you to sign as the guarantor."

She promised him a twenty percent commission if he signed the documents today.

Mateo didn't even read the fine print before grabbing his pen.

He signed away his remaining legal rights to their shared assets in seconds.
